About Cree

Cree Mann - WatercolorsPainting to me has always been a source of wonder and excitement, tempered with frustration. I had always enjoyed drawing and began painting after my children were grown. After a career in fashion retailing it seemed natural to choose a creative form of expression which required a sense of color and design. Painting in acrylic, oil and pastel gave way, finally, to watercolor, which has remained my favorite.

The subjects I like best are landscape, architecture, and flowers---I love to paint en plein air and Santa Barbara provides the best weather and locations to immerse myself in beauty. I continue to take classes and workshops and find a wonderful stimulation in painting with others.

In addition to memberships in Santa Barbara Art Association, Goleta Valley Art Association, SCAPE (Southern California Artists Painting for the Environment), I am an active member of MAST (Mesa Artists Studio Tour) and Brushmarks Critique Group. My work can be found in collections around the world, and my greeting cards of local scenes have been very popular.

I feel very grateful to live in Santa Barbara and hope to continue to share my joy in its beauty through watercolor for many years to come.
